Other Character Permissions

Due to the nature of Sherlock's unique mind and thought process, please fill out the provided form for each character that you wish to engage Sherlock with in a comment to this entry. This will help ensure Sherlock's ability to deduce information is not used to god-mod against your character's ability to maintain secrets.

(I'm going to do all of mine in one comment)

Character: Finlay Alexander Flynn
The following is permissible to deduce: He's blind (fairly obvious). He was homeless for several years. Recently came into money.
Clues or evidence to this exist as: Despite being wealthy now, he's quite frugal. Also his blindness was the result of a recent attack by a stalker, and since Fin is an actor, it was picked up in some of the papers.
The following is not permissible to deduce: The fact that he's dating a fae.

Character: Dr. Spencer Reid
The following is permissible to deduce: Anything on his wiki.
Clues or evidence to this exist as: It's worth noting that Spencer lands somewhere on the autistic spectrum, it's hinted at in early seasons of the show, though never outright addressed. Things someone might notice include the fact that he's clearly taught himself how to make it look as though he's making eye contact, the fact that he wears his watch over his shirt sleeve rather than against skin, and the fact that he wont shake hands (he just offers a small wave usually).
The following is not permissible to deduce: Can't think of anything.

Character: Winter Wisp
The following is permissible to deduce: He's suffered through extreem trauma and abuse in his youth. That he might not be human.
Clues or evidence to this exist as: Wary of touch, initially very cautious around new people. His colouring is slightly odd.
The following is not permissible to deduce: That he's a pixie. XD Pixies aren't very common in the mortal realm, and Winter takes a potion to make himself taller- So unless someone was an expert on pixies, it's unlikely aanyone would guess what he is.

Character: Q
The following is permissible to deduce: He's gay, he's a hacker. That he works for six.
Clues or evidence to this exist as: It's not hard to guess Q's a hacker- He likes showing off a little, and he always seems to know more than he should. I also figure that Sherlock would be more likely than most to figure out that Q works for MI6. Though how/if he does, I'll let be your choice.
The following is not permissible to deduce: Can't think of anything, but will update if I do.

If you're not sure about something you can ping me on aim, or send me a quick email. My contact info is in Q's journal. You just have to subscribe to see it.

This is just my first few thoughts - ALWAYS feel free to reach out to me if you think Sherlock would maybe deduce this or that thing about my character for this or that reason! I'll probably say yes if there's evidence we can think of. :)

  • Character: Anael
  • The following is permissible to deduce: he's stronger than he looks. He probably looks like he's never done manual labour for a day in his life.
  • Clues or evidence to this exist as: the way he holds himself, soft hands.
  • The following is not permissible to deduce: Mostly Anael should be a big huge question mark all over, given the fact that his body is just his physical manifestation and not actually something he uses most of the time. He just appears that way! Sometimes his manners hint at the fact that he has wings, but I'll always specify it and I'm not sure Sherlock would make that leap because wow huge leap, so that's up to you. ;)

  • Character: Michael Corella (Micheletto)
  • The following is permissible to deduce: military background, dangerous, very good at not being noticed, gay, armed.
  • Clues or evidence to this exist as: the way he moves and holds himself - his gaze, sometimes, or your good old gaydar - weapons hidden on him.
  • The following is not permissible to deduce: actually it isn't so much that it's not permissible to deduce, but it could have such in-game consequences that I'd rather discuss these implications if you want Sherlock to deduce that he's also an assassin.

  • Character: Vanessa Ives
  • The following is permissible to deduce: her job, her domme-y tendencies.
  • Clues or evidence to this exist as: the smell of whatever from the libraries I'm not a curator of ancient texts I don't know what they used okay. ;) And er... I don't know, does he have a domdar? (It is so a thing.)
  • The following is not permissible to deduce: if you can think of a way for him to deduce the weirder things about her, let me know. :)

  • Character: Oliver Frears (Athos)
  • The following is permissible to deduce: armed, alcoholic, depressed, once married.
  • Clues or evidence to this exist as: weapons on him, his breath/his eyes/the bottle in front of him, his depression manifests in apparently caring for very little, and he's still wearing his wedding band.
  • The following is not permissible to deduce: if you can think of a way for him to deduce more, again, get in touch!

  • Character: Dutch Velders
  • The following is permissible to deduce: spends a lot of time in front of computers, black hat hacker, bisexual.
  • Clues or evidence to this exist as: I'm sure something could be said about indents on her fingers from typing so much or one form or other of muscle strain or whatever. She looks the part of an anarchist, and she is - that plus computers = black hat hacker. And she's never shy about looking at both boys and girls.
  • The following is not permissible to deduce: Same as the others, if you can think of anything!

  • Character: Jag
  • The following is permissible to deduce: Roma upbringing, wasn't born Roma, plays with fire, busker, pickpocket thief, squatter
  • Clues or evidence to this exist as: tattoo on his wrist is often visible and also his name, 'Jag' is very unlikely to be his real name, the smell on him says fire (and also his name), that means he's either a fire performer or an arsonist, the thieving is a matter of seeing him in action, and the squatter thing is just a matter of making a somewhat logical assumption based on who he appears to be.
  • The following is not permissible to deduce: that he's a mutant.
  • akatawitch: (Witch)

    [personal profile] akatawitch 2015-01-29 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
  • Character: Sunny Nwazue
  • The following is permissible to deduce: Most anything on her wiki page. Race issues, nationality issues, self-conscious about her coloring, years and years of getting into fights, baby of the family, dad doesn't like her, go nuts, really.
  • Clues or evidence to this exist as: Her name (English first name, Igbo last name), her accent (flawlessly switches between American accent and Nigerian accent), occasionally peppers her speech with Pidgin English words, the way she carries herself, knows how to make a fist so that she won't break her hand, her mode of dress (wears a wrap skirt almost as frequently as a pair of jeans)... She tends to be really good about hiding the fact that she doesn't sunburn anymore, but especially away from her parents, her cover-up isn't flawless since she doesn't expect people who don't have her condition to notice or care.
  • The following is not permissible to deduce: The magic thing. Though that can happen as he gets deeper into the supernatural goings on.

My contact info is on the wiki if you have questions!
  • prodigalflame: (Default)

    [personal profile] prodigalflame 2015-01-29 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
  • Character: John Allerdyce
  • The following is permissible to deduce: Most anything on his wiki, personality wise: his attitude towards others, which is a mix of discomfort and disdain, his slight paranoia due to a sketchy past, his utter devotion to his boyfriend, if Sherlock ever sees them together. The fact he's moved around a fair bit as a kid, although his accent is generically U.S.
  • Clues or evidence to this exist as: His behaviour: Always watching, he is, like he's expecting someone to jump him or attack him. His gesture tends to be controlled, but still large - he points, for example; he cricks his neck, he grumbles, he glowers. And yet at times he can totally switch off and slip through a crowd like he doesn't care for their attention.
  • The following is not permissible to deduce: His mutant status. The exact details of his past.
  • real_gun_hand: (Default)

    [personal profile] real_gun_hand 2015-01-31 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
  • Character: James Bond
  • The following is permissible to deduce: He's a spy, has killed loads of people, is damned good at his job, loves England zealously, is in love, comes from wealth and breeding, (and in this temporary plot Sherlock can know he's forgotten his past if that comes up in any way)
  • Clues or evidence to this exist as: The cut of his suit, his posture and bearing, word choice and accent, and I can't think of what but I'll give you good indications in text to play off of.
  • The following is not permissible to deduce: Nothing I can think of.

  • Character: Willy Silver
  • The following is permissible to deduce: He's not human, he's had way too many years of practice with the guitar and fiddle, he's in love
  • Clues or evidence to this exist as: His eyes are a completely inhuman emerald green, his skin is super pale, his bone structure is fine and beautiful, his manner of speaking is archaic, and he pretty much just doesn't hide that he's fae. And if Sherlock doesn't believe in faeries then we can fall back on the 'what's left, however improbable, is the truth' thing from ACD.
  • The following is not permissible to deduce: His true name.

  • Character: Hex (Thomas Hector Schofield)
  • The following is permissible to deduce: Former soldier, combat medic, nurse (at St. Bart's), avid fitness junkie, believes he's plain, coming out was traumatic for him.
  • Clues or evidence to this exist as: Haircut, physique, dry hands, antiseptic scent, may be in scrubs when they meet, the traumatic thing would have to come up in conversation or mannerisms which I'll make clear in threading.
  • The following is not permissible to deduce: That he's traveled in time and space with a Time Lord

  • Character: Aaron Hotchner
  • The following is permissible to deduce: FBI agent, profiler, crack shot, relies on guns, divorced, loving father
  • Clues or evidence to this exist as: Cut of his suit, demeanor and posture, um- maybe something on his hands to indicate gun use? Lack of a wedding band but discolored line, I'm not sure how he'd know about Hotch's son but if it comes up he can deduce.
  • The following is not permissible to deduce: Nothing I can think of.

  • Character: Chris White
  • The following is permissible to deduce: Professor, avid scholar, OCD and Anxiety disorder, secret tattoos, secret prostitute lover, former relationship with collegue.
  • Clues or evidence to this exist as: I have no idea how Sherlock would deduce some of this but I give you free rein to deduce away! The OCD/Anxiety is pretty obvious though.
  • The following is not permissible to deduce: Nothing I can think of.

I'm also currently socking The Phouka from Willy's canon who you can also deduce is fae for the same reasons sort of. Sherlock can't know he turns into a dog, though.
  • harrowgate: (giggle)

    [personal profile] harrowgate 2015-02-03 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
Always feel free to drop me an email (bunnybeaner at gmail) to work out details! I can be like three times as verbose as this post already is. :D

  • Character: Felix Harrowgate

  • The following is permissible to deduce: Felix was not raised as posh and well-to-do as he presents himself currently; he was neglected and hurt as a child; he was educated specifically to present himself otherwise. He is very much afraid his past will be uncovered, and he is terribly afraid of becoming someone's scapegoat/slave/victim. Also, his right eye is almost completely blind.

  • Clues or evidence to this exist as: Felix's speech is very precise, and he over-enunciates to preserve an upper-class accent. He startles easily, anticipates violent reactions from others, and moves like he's afraid he'll be hurt if he places his feet incorrectly. His obvious desire for attention makes it pretty clear that he was starved for attention at some point in his life. Incessant flirtation could indicate some of his past neglect and abuse was sexual in nature. Felix unconsciously tries to control everything around him rather than be controlled, himself, again.

  • The following is not permissible to deduce: That he's a wizard/can do magic (unless Sherlock learns about magic some other way). The details of his past -- child thief, child prostitute, educated by the world's most evil Henry Higgins figure -- would be rather a stretch.
